Urgent: Correct CDC Website's False Autism-Vaccine Link Claim

29 so far! Help us get to 50 signers!

I am deeply concerned about the recent changes to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's website regarding autism and vaccines. This alteration, made by political appointees without CDC expert input, now falsely claims that the statement "Vaccines do not cause autism" is not evidence-based. This is a dangerous misrepresentation of scientific consensus that could have severe public health consequences. Extensive scientific research has consistently shown no link between vaccines and autism. The previous CDC statement accurately reflected this, noting that no links had been found between vaccine ingredients and autism spectrum disorder. The current false claim contradicts decades of rigorous studies and undermines public trust in our health institutions. This misinformation poses a significant threat to public health. By casting doubt on vaccine safety, it may lead to decreased vaccination rates, putting vulnerable populations at risk of preventable diseases. Moreover, it stigmatizes autism and misleads parents seeking accurate health information for their children. The change has been rightfully criticized by medical experts and autism advocacy groups. Even Senator Bill Cassidy, initially involved in an agreement related to this change, has since criticized it. This widespread opposition from the scientific and medical communities underscores the urgency of correcting this error. I urge you to take immediate action to restore accurate, science-based information to the CDC website. Specifically, I request that you: 1. Remove the false claim about vaccines and autism from the CDC website immediately. 2. Reinstate the previous, scientifically accurate statement about the lack of link between vaccines and autism. 3. Implement safeguards to prevent future politically motivated alterations to CDC health information without proper scientific review. The CDC's credibility on vaccines and other critical health recommendations is at stake. Swift action is necessary to maintain public trust in our health institutions and protect public health. Please prioritize scientific integrity and act now to correct this dangerous misinformation.
