An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Start investigating DHS and abolish ICE

46 so far! Help us get to 50 signers!

DHS is allowing Inhuman conditions must be investigated and ICE abolished! Baby Juan Nicolás, a 2-month-old boy, spent half of his life in a family detention center in Dilley, Texas, where he developed bronchitis and was rushed to the hospital after becoming unresponsive while choking on his own vomit. A sick baby who needed medical care. In a detention center run by a private prison contractor reaping historic profits. This is how our nation is choosing to spend our tax dollars and express our American values. Baby Juan — along with his 1-year-old sister, his mom, and his dad — was removed from detention and abandoned in Mexico, just across the U.S. southern border. According to reports, the family had little more than nothing: $190 from their commissary and a cellphone without a charger. Stranded. If it wasn’t clear before, let it be clear now: We are witnessing a human rights emergency within our own borders, led by our own government, and executed in our own name as Americans.
