I am writing to demand immediate action in response to President Trump’s unauthorized military strikes on Iran.
This unlawful war has already cost the lives of U.S. servicemembers and at least 1,000 Iranian civilians. Missile and drone strikes, military operations, and retaliatory attacks are now causing death and suffering across the Middle East as this escalates into a wider regional conflict. The risk of further escalation grows by the day.
THE POWER TO DECLARE WAR RESIDES WITH CONGRESS—NOT THE PRESIDENT.
The Constitution is clear, yet this administration has launched the United States into armed conflict without congressional authorization, recklessly endangering our servicemembers, American civilians, and countless innocent lives abroad.
You have both the authority and the obligation to act immediately. I urge you to:
• Publicly oppose this war and call for an immediate end to U.S. hostilities against Iran.
• Expedite, support, and advance War Powers Resolutions requiring explicit congressional authorization for any continued military action.
• Oppose any and all funding for this war, including voting against supplemental or emergency funding packages.
• Demand full transparency and accountability from the administration regarding its actions and justifications.
The American people do not want another forever war. We have seen before that unilateral wars in the Middle East bring staggering human, moral, and financial costs—with no lasting security to show for them. We cannot allow history to repeat itself.
I look forward to your response—and, more importantly, to seeing urgent action.
