Say no to Fort Bliss Concentration Camp There is no pride in housing the biggest coordination of the US military to carry out deportations. It is profoundly insulting that Fort Bliss is a former concentration camp for US Citizens. I implore you to challenge these policies driven by cruelty and exclusion. The Department of Homeland Security collaborating with the Department of Defense to detain thousands of people in tents on a military base is not only inhumane, it is ineffective and unnecessary. People held in remote facilities like Fort Bliss face steep barriers to accessing legal counsel and medical care, as well communicating with family members. Isolating people on military bases heightens the risk of abuse and neglect. The Trump administration has already spent a staggering $1.2 billion (https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-07-22/trump-awards-immigration-detention-center-contract-for-fort-bliss-in-texas) on the Fort Bliss tent camp, rather than funding public services Texans urgently need, such as disaster relief, health care, education, and housing. Support El Paso County and Texas. Demand full transparency from ICE. • Conduct oversight visits and releasing public reports on detention conditions. • Oppose any more funding for militarized detention sites and tent cities and redeployment of military resources for the reckless deportation drive. • Hold private contractors accountable for abuse and neglect. • Support legislation that shifts immigration enforcement away from punitive approaches and toward permanent protections for immigrant communities.
