An open letter to State Governors & Legislatures (Texas only)

Prioritize funding for strong public education system

20 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!

Public education is a fundamental right, and taxpayer funds should prioritize supporting and strengthening the public school system accessible to all students, regardless of income or circumstances. Diverting tax dollars away from public schools to subsidize private education, which often has additional costs and entry barriers, undermines equal educational opportunity. We must invest in improving resources, facilities, and support for teachers and staff in public schools to ensure every child receives a high-quality education. Private education choices are available for families able to afford those options through their own means, but public funds are a precious resource that should directly benefit the public good through our public schools. I urge you to reject any proposals that would redirect public education funding to private institutions and instead focus legislation on addressing the needs and challenges within the public school system we all rely on.
