I am writing to express my strong opposition to the nomination of Tulsi Gabbard for Director of National Intelligence. At a time when the stability of our government and global security is increasingly under threat, we need qualified individuals in key positions—individuals who have demonstrated sound judgment, respect for expert analysis, and a commitment to defending our nation’s interests. Unfortunately, Gabbard’s record raises serious concerns about her suitability for this role.
Throughout her career, Gabbard has taken positions that directly contradict the assessments of U.S. intelligence agencies and career analysts who are tasked with protecting our national security. Most notably:
• She has cast doubt on the conclusions of the United Nations, the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, and U.S. intelligence regarding the Syrian regime’s use of chemical weapons, undermining the credibility of established institutions that safeguard international security.
• She opposed COVID-19 vaccine requirements for U.S. service members, despite clear evidence that widespread vaccination was critical to maintaining military readiness and protecting national security interests at home and abroad.
• Her foreign policy positions have, at times, aligned more closely with adversarial regimes than with America’s strategic allies, raising questions about her ability to serve effectively in a role that demands unwavering commitment to national defense and diplomacy.
Given the ongoing instability in both domestic and international affairs, we cannot afford to place someone with this record in a position of significant influence. Whether by lack of expertise or ideological misalignment with U.S. security interests, Gabbard’s appointment would introduce unnecessary risk to Ohio, the United States, and our global standing.
I urge you to reject this nomination and instead support a candidate who possesses the necessary qualifications, judgment, and alignment with the values that protect our nation. Thank you for your time and consideration.
