As a constituent and as someone deeply concerned about the direction and future of our country, I’m urging you to vote against the so-called One Big Beautiful Bill Act that passed the House.
The bill will harm our economy and the environment we all depend on. Cuts to the Inflation Reduction Act’s clean energy credits could result in the loss of nearly 700,000 jobs throughout the country.
And cuts to renewable energy credits and electric vehicle (EV) tax credits will cause the U.S. to cede innovation and market share in these vital technologies to other countries, while dramatically slowing the nation’s progress on reducing climate emissions, resulting in escalating costs from climate disasters.
Proposed cuts to food assistance programs and conservation programs will harm small-scale farmers. The bill will further consolidate farming in the hands of wealthy farmers and corporations.
This bill will cause irreparable harm to millions of people – stripping people of Medicaid and food assistance benefits that are literally lifesavers.
By 2034, 14 million people could lose health insurance coverage. 11 million could lose food assistance benefits.
Finally, the bill will accelerate the U.S. deficit, likely raising the cost of borrowing and increasing inflation – both of which will have devastating impacts on U.S. consumers and small businesses.
I urge you to work with your colleagues to remove these harmful provisions from the bill and only vote yes on a bill that protects the most marginalized members of our country while positioning the U.S. to responsibly take advantage of the growing green economy.
