An open letter to the U.S. House of Representatives
URGENT: Public Opinion Has Shifted — Congress Must Act Now
20 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!
Members of Congress across the political spectrum are taking notice: Palestinian liberation is now one of the most powerful and popular political causes in America.
47 Representatives have already co-sponsored H.R. 3566, the “Block the Bombs Act,” which would stop the transfer of weapons documented in war crimes, including:
• 120mm tank rounds — used to kill 6-year-old Hind Rajab, her family, and paramedics.
• GBU-39 Boeing bombs — used in the Rafah tent massacre.
• JDAM guidance kits — used to bomb a mosque and school in central Gaza.
A new Zogby poll makes the stakes clear:
• A plurality of American voters believe Israel is committing genocide in Gaza. Voters are more likely to support candidates who acknowledge this reality.
• Democratic voters overwhelmingly align with calling Israel’s actions genocide. Only 15% say they’d be less likely to support such a candidate — compared to 50% who say they’d be more likely.
• Candidates backed by AIPAC and other pro-Israel lobbies risk losing voter support, especially among young voters and Democrats.
• Majorities or pluralities across nearly every voter group — except conservatives — support ending Israel’s war on Gaza. Only 19% of all voters oppose a call to end the war.
• Reducing or ending military aid to Israel is popular, backed by 48% of Democrats and nearly one-third of Republicans, with strongest support among young and progressive voters.
• Sympathy for Palestinians is growing — up 4% since April — while support for Israel has stagnated at 30%.
The message to Congress is unmistakable: your constituents demand action.
Today is the day to show that you are listening. Co-sponsor H.R. 3566, the Block the Bombs Act.
