I am writing to demand immediate congressional oversight into the ongoing and well-documented conflicts of interest and financial entanglements surrounding President Donald Trump.
The American presidency is a public trust. It is not a vehicle for personal enrichment, brand expansion, or private financial gain. Yet the pattern of behavior associated with President Trump—both during and surrounding his time in office—raises serious ethical and constitutional concerns that Congress has a duty to investigate.
Public reporting has repeatedly documented situations in which Trump-owned businesses and ventures have financially benefited from his political position and influence. These include:
• Government officials, lobbyists, and foreign representatives spending significant sums at Trump-owned properties
• Ongoing fundraising operations and political committees directing money toward businesses tied to the president
• Licensing, branding, and merchandise operations closely tied to his political image
• Persistent conflict-of-interest concerns involving private businesses operating while holding public office
These issues raise legitimate questions under the Constitution’s Foreign Emoluments Clause and Domestic Emoluments Clause, which were designed specifically to prevent presidents from profiting from their position.
Congress has both the authority and the obligation to investigate potential abuses of power and conflicts of interest at the highest levels of government. Failure to do so sends a dangerous message that ethical boundaries no longer apply to those in power.
Americans are facing rising costs of living, housing instability, healthcare challenges, and economic uncertainty. They deserve a government focused on solving real problems—not one overshadowed by questions about personal profit and political self-dealing.
I urge Congress to:
• Launch a formal investigation into presidential financial conflicts of interest
• Require full transparency regarding any businesses connected to the president
• Enforce constitutional protections against personal enrichment from public office
• Strengthen ethics laws to ensure no president can use the office for private gain
The integrity of the presidency—and public trust in our democratic institutions—depends on clear ethical boundaries and rigorous oversight.
The American people deserve accountability. I urge you to act.
