An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Don’t televise an execution!

154 so far! Help us get to 250 signers!

If you have even a shred of human dignity left, you will PUT A STOP TO TELEVISING AN EXECUTION! Pete Hegseth has just announced that the government will be publicly livestreaming the firing squad execution of Nidal Hasan, the former US Army Major who committed the 2009 Fort Hood shooting. By allowing the public to view an execution live, the United States will join a very short list of countries that engage in that practice. Afghanistan, Iran, North Korea, Somalia, and the United States. The Chinese Communist Party occasionally broadcasts taped executions. The US will, however, become the first ever country to livestream an execution. Is that the company we want to be associated with? The US engaging in its first public execution in 90 years and the first livestreamed public execution by a state actor of ALL TIME is nothing short of barbaric.
