I am writing to express my strong opposition to the SAVE Act, a dangerous and unconstitutional attack on voting rights. This bill would disenfranchise countless Americans—especially married women who have changed their last names—by imposing unnecessary barriers to voter registration.
Forcing citizens to present in-person proof of citizenship with specific documents is a blatant attempt to suppress votes under the guise of election security. Millions of legal voters, particularly women, the elderly, and marginalized communities, could be denied their fundamental right to participate in our democracy.
We should be making it easier, not harder, for eligible Americans to vote. I urge you to reject the SAVE Act and instead focus on protecting and expanding access to the ballot box.
