Protect Access to Medication Abortion, Protect Our Freedom from the FDA

The American people have spoken again and again in the three years since the Dobbs decision: we believe in the right to choose, and we want politicians to get out of our bedrooms, our doctor’s appointments and our mail. Reproductive rights won at the ballot box almost every time it was up for a vote, and President Trump explicitly and loudly promised the public he would not back a national abortion ban or restrictions on access to medication abortion. Now this administration is making it clear they lied to us and intend to violate our bodily autonomy and our freedom. They are using a bogus and intentionally misleading data analysis by extremist activists to wildly exaggerate the dangers of a pill with a decades-long record of safe use by real people in the real world. They are now “reviewing” whether they should impose the exact sort of new limits we were told would not happen. It is an obvious set-up and we are not falling for it. Congress has the power to step in and stop the FDA from trampling our privacy and our rights. Please fight to pass legislation like Senator Smith’s Protecting Access to Medication Abortion Act to ensure the legality of mifepristone and guarantee it will remain available through telehealth and mail-order pharmacies.
