TRUMP IS TAKING THE COUNTRY, AND THE GOP, DOWN WITH HIM
1 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!
Today’s reality check for my elected officials.
First reality…y’all are very unpopular.
Second reality…the right is becoming afraid that once Trump’s reign of terror has passed into the dumpster it belongs in, their ability to talk trash and slander the other side will be gone along with him.
Free speech is definitely important in the land of the Right.
So as resident Texas podcaster and senator (emphasis on the first) Ted Cruz celebrated Kimmel’s firing he also called the threat of FCC Chairman Brendan Carr to retaliate against ABC “unbelievably dangerous.”
Cruz called Carr’s threats “right out of a mafioso coming into a bar going, ‘nice bar you have here. It’d be a shame if something happened to it.’”
Where has Senator Cruz been? That sir, is the Trump administration in a nutshell.
AP-NORC polling shows that Republicans are growing pessimistic about the direction of the country. And a share of all American adults who say the country is off track has increased 13 percentage points since June, from 62% to 75%.
The biggest change has been among Republicans. In June, 29% of Republicans were concerned about the direction of the country; now that number is 51%.
We the people writ large don’t like Trump tearing down the walls of our democracy.
We don’t like our most elite and powerful individuals and institutions failing to defend our democracy.
We don’t like our nation’s most powerful law firms bending the knee.
We don’t like our finest universities buckling.
We don’t like that some of our most powerful CEOs have capitulated.
We certainly don’t like some of our largest media companies are simply surrendering.
So if those with power and influence want to sell off our rights and freedoms to enrich themselves, then Americans must make it clear that this cowardice and greed will fail them.
If these powers are going to enable our slide into democracy, they should lose our support in any way possible.
There really is courage everywhere we look. And we have not yet lost our power.
Or as one political strategist put it…”Voters don’t like this dictator shit.”
