Support Workers Right to Organize: Support the PRO Act

Since 1979, income disparities have widened dramatically, with wages for the bottom 90% of households increasing by only 26%, compared to a 160% increase for the wealthiest 1%. This stark inequality highlights the need for robust mechanisms that empower workers and ensure fair compensation and working conditions. The right to organize and collectively bargain is essential in this regard, and the high approval rating of labor unions, currently at its peak since 1968, reflects the public's recognition of this importance. Despite this growing support for unions, corporations like Amazon and Starbucks have engaged in aggressive anti-union practices, undermining workers' rights to organize and bargain collectively. The PRO Act addresses these challenges by strengthening federal laws that protect the right to unionize. Key provisions of the bill include empowering workers to exercise their right to organize, prohibiting employer interference in union elections, penalizing violations of workers' rights, and restricting 'right to work' laws that weaken union effectiveness. The passage of the PRO Act would represent a significant step forward in ensuring that workers can join unions without fear of retaliation. It would help to balance the scales between workers and employers, fostering a more equitable and just labor market. I urge you, as my representative in Congress, to support and advocate for the PRO Act. It is vital that we strengthen the rights of workers to organize and bargain collectively, not only as a matter of economic justice but also to uphold the values upon which our nation was built.
