Save the VA, Oppose H.R. 740: Deceptively named the Veterans Access Act

Today I take pen in hand to write and urge you in the strongest possible terms to reject and vote NO on the proposed Veterans Access Act (H.R. 740). This deceptively named bill poses a grave threat to the quality and availability of healthcare for our nation's veterans. This legislation is not written to help, but rather seeks to dismantle the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), the largest integrated healthcare system serving over 9 million veterans. By limiting choices, decreasing coverage, and reducing access to care, H.R. 740 would divert funds away from the VHA towards private sector interests. This move could have particularly devastating consequences for rural veterans who rely heavily on the VHA's comprehensive network of facilities, many of which might be forced to close. As a constituent, I urge you to firmly oppose this destructive bill that undermines our commitment to providing exceptional care for those who have served our country. The VHA's nearly 450,000 dedicated employees, the vast majority working directly in healthcare roles, must be supported and protected. Our veterans and their families deserve access to the highest quality integrated care system, not a dismantled provider transformed into a mere insurer. Reject and Vote NO on H.R. 740.
