An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Reject Unconstitutional SAVE Act, Protect Voting Rights

No on the SAVE Act, Don't Disenfranchise Your Citizens. The SAVE Act would strip Americans of their voting rights and disenfranchise millions of eligible voters, including married women whose birth certificates do not reflect their married names. This legislation targets naturalized citizens by requiring them to reverify their citizenship status every two years with the federal government. Failure to comply could result in being removed from voter rolls, a clear violation of constitutional rights. Moreover, the bill's onerous documentation requirements and convoluted bureaucratic process would suppress voter participation and undermine faith in our democracy. As an elected representative entrusted to uphold the Constitution, you must reject this blatant attempt at voter suppression that would disproportionately impact communities of color. Protect the sacred right to vote and oppose the SAVE Act.
