Sensible Gun Legislation

I’m deeply disturbed, upset and angry about the failure of our Missouri political representatives to put in place critically important gun safety legislation.   Missouri HB 485, would allow guns in places of worship without requiring a citizen to notify a religious leader at the house of worship that a gun is being brought into the house.  It has recently come to my attention that this bill is now an amendment to Missouri HB 282, which would allow concealed weapons onto public transportation along with additional legislation that would lower the required age of a young person of age 18 to carry a concealed weapon.   With the number of mass shootings continuing to grow exponentially in America, you as a member of our duly elected political body, must stand tall to bring about positive change in our gun laws.   According to Everytown Research, since 2015, over 19,000 people have been shot wounded or killed in a mass shooting. In 2022 alone, over 600 people were killed, with over 2,700 wounded. Through the end of March of this year, the U.S. averaged better than 2 MASS SHOOTINGS EVERY DAY. How many more innocent children and adults must we lose to gun violence?    It is clear by your inaction with respect to gun safety legislation that you value guns more than our children.  How many more lives must we lose before we begin to see a change in our MO gun laws.  Please do us all a huge favor and act to help bring about positive change in our gun safety legislation.  You owe it to the men, women and children of the state of Missouri that you take the necessary action to put in place sensible gun safety legislation. This should not be a political issue.  It is a matter of public safety.
