An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Stop cuts to NIH funding

29 so far! Help us get to 50 signers!

The planned $4 billion cut to National Institutes of Health (NIH) research funding would severely impede medical progress and put countless lives at risk. This drastic reduction, which caps overhead funds for expenses like facilities and staff at a mere 15%, threatens to derail or delay critical studies into diseases like cancer, diabetes, and heart disease. Universities and medical centers rely on these overhead funds to purchase essential equipment and maintain the sophisticated laboratories required for cutting-edge research. Without this support, we face longer waits for new treatments and cures, falling behind global competitors, and the loss of high-skilled jobs. Scientific advancement is vital for improving public health and saving lives. We cannot afford to undermine the groundbreaking work being done by our nation's top researchers. I urge you to reconsider these devastating cuts that will ultimately cost far more than they save.
