Act Now to Limit Global Warming. It’s a Huge Threat.

I’m writing today to urge you in the strongest possible terms to support every available measure to limit global warming — now, not later. This is a campaign issue for me for years. July 2026 is on track to be the warmest month ever recorded across the contiguous United States, running 2.5 degrees above average and poised to break the record set in July 2012. Thousands died from excess heat in Europe last month. Death Valley is forecast to hit degrees, but there are many cities in similar dire straits with temperatures over 100 degrees for extended periods and bad air quality. This is not a future threat — it is happening right now. Noted Climate scientist Brian Brettschneider confirmed it's "more likely than not" that July 2026 will be the warmest month on record in the lower 48. Overnight temperatures are breaking records too, with Phoenix tying its all-time warmest night at 97 degrees on July 24. The strongest El Niño on record is amplifying an already overheating planet. Every vote against climate action is a vote to make this into a multi-faceted disaster that will not end with one heatwave or dangerous flood. Back every policy, every bill, every funding mechanism that moves us toward a cooler, safer future. Thank you.
