Defund Flock Safety Camera Contracts I’m writing as your constituent to urge you to oppose and defund contracts with Flock Safety’s automated license plate reader network. Flock’s nationwide camera system has become a de facto mass surveillance tool with minimal oversight. Data from these cameras has reportedly been used to track individuals crossing state lines for reproductive healthcare, raising serious concerns in a post-Dobbs landscape where that data could expose people to prosecution. Reports have also surfaced of officers misusing the system for personal reasons, including looking up the movements of ex-partners — a stalking risk enabled by a tool with far too few guardrails. Local and state governments should not be funding infrastructure that turns every drive through town into a logged, searchable record, especially one so easily abused by the very people entrusted to use it responsibly. I urge you to support defunding these contracts and to push for stronger oversight of ALPR systems generally. Thank you for your attention to this issue.
