Protect the freedom of the press

Freedom of the press is a fundamental tenet of democracy and must be vigorously safeguarded against any attempts at illegal censorship or suppression. The media plays a vital watchdog role in holding those in power accountable and informing the public. Suggestions that certain outlets should be deemed illegal due to negative coverage is an alarming assault on First Amendment rights. A free and independent press is essential for maintaining transparency, enabling public discourse, and upholding the principles our nation was founded upon. We cannot allow this critical democratic institution to be undermined or infringed upon based on partisan motivations or disagreements with coverage. Protecting a truly free press from illegitimate interference or retaliation is imperative to preserving our liberties and system of checks and balances.
