PLEASE - WAKE UP!
The President cannot sign legislation designed to punish Russia for its illegal war against Ukraine and then turn around and gut those same sanctions to accommodate Putin’s wishes. This is a betrayal of congressional intent, American leadership, and our allies. I demand immediate action.
On September 18, 2026, President Trump signed the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026 into law. The bipartisan legislation was meant to increase economic pressure on Russia, target its financial and energy sectors, and make it harder for Putin to finance his illegal war against Ukraine.
Then on October 16, Trump signed an executive order waiving many major sanctions, restrictions, and tariffs authorized by that very law, claiming it was in the “national interest.” This follows his announcement of a deal to purchase millions of tons of Russian diesel fuel—a deal many warn could send money flowing back into the hands of a regime waging war against Ukraine.
Make this make sense. Now.
How can Congress pass bipartisan legislation to pressure Russia, the President sign it into law, and then the same President sideline its central measures a few weeks later? How does enriching Russia serve America’s national interest? Where is the evidence that rewarding Putin will produce peace, protect American security, or end his aggression? Explain it to me, please.
Congress has a constitutional duty to conduct oversight, scrutinize executive decisions, and defend the intent of the laws it passes.
I demand that you:
-Immediately hold public hearings and require the administration to explain its decision, disclose the national interest justification submitted to Congress, and identify who benefits from these waivers.
-Use every available oversight power to investigate the Russian diesel deal, its financial implications, and whether this policy undermines U.S. national security and support for Ukraine.
-Pursue legislation to close loopholes that allow a president to neutralize congressional sanctions policy without meaningful accountability, including appropriate limits on waiver authority.
-Publicly condemn this reversal and demand a clear explanation of why American policy appears to be removing pressure on Putin while his illegal war continues.
-Congress controls the legislative framework. Your oath is to the Constitution and the American people—not to Donald Trump and most certainly not to Vladimir Putin.
Our country should not reward aggression while undermining an ally fighting for its survival. Bipartisan legislation must mean something. American credibility must mean something. And congressional oversight must mean something.
Stop standing on the sidelines. Demand answers. Exercise your constitutional authority. Hold this administration accountable. Act now.
I expect a written response explaining what specific actions you will take.
