Protect Our Elections. Protect Our Democracy. Act Before Election Day.

I am your constituent, and I am demanding that Congress act now to protect the independence and integrity of the 2026 midterm elections. Our democracy cannot afford to wait until after voters have cast their ballots to ask whether federal power was misused, election officials were pressured, or voters were intimidated. Congress has the constitutional authority and responsibility to provide oversight before—not after—Election Day. I urge you to take these five immediate actions: 1. Stop intimidation at polling places. Publicly state your position on deploying ICE or other armed federal personnel at or near polling places. Demand that DHS provide Congress with a written account of any plans to deploy federal personnel in connection with the election. 2. Restore the Election Assistance Commission. Demand that the administration promptly submit qualified EAC nominees and commit to timely Senate hearings and confirmation. 3. Investigate the EAC vacancies. Request a GAO or Inspector General investigation into the departure of the EAC commissioners and the impact of the vacancies on election administration and security. The EAC currently lists Thomas Hicks, Christy McCormick, Benjamin Hovland, and Donald Palmer as former commissioners. 4. Defend the Constitution. Oppose any executive attempt to alter or override state election procedures without congressional authorization. Article I, Section 4 gives states authority over the times, places, and manner of congressional elections while expressly giving Congress—not the Executive Branch—the power to make or alter those regulations. 5. Use Congress’s oversight power before Election Day. Request a committee hearing. Demand documents from DHS, DOJ, the White House, and other relevant agencies. Require responsible officials to testify about federal plans involving polling places or state election administration. If warranted, pursue legislation or appropriations measures to establish clear limits on unauthorized federal interference. This is not about partisan politics. It is about constitutional boundaries, lawful elections, and public confidence in our democracy. Congress must not wait for a constitutional crisis to act. Protect the elections. Protect the Constitution. Protect our democracy. Please respond in writing with the specific actions you will take before Election Day, including whether you will request hearings, demand records, require testimony, and pursue legislative or funding measures if warranted. The time to protect our democracy is before the votes are cast—not after.
