Stop the Project 2025 Scheme to Dismantle the FDIC and Banking Protections

Today I take pen in hand to write and urge you to block attempts to dismantle the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. This is not policy, its a move to strip protections away from everyday people while the rich can simply move their assets.
As you know, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) has been a crucial pillar of the nation's banking system for 90 years, providing a robust system of deposit insurance that has prevented full-scale bank runs and panics.
Dismantling the FDIC would undermine this stability and lay bare the fragility of the banking industry. Without the FDIC's backing, individual depositors would be left to monitor the financial condition of their banks, a complex task ill-suited for the average customer.
This move would severely shake public confidence in the safety of their deposits, potentially triggering widespread economic disruption akin to the Great Depression.
There’s nothing about this that makes banking more efficient. It’s about removing more safety nets for consumers. The people installed to do this aren’t going to wait for Congress. They will likely:
⁃ Discredit the FDIC as controlling or inefficient
⁃ Shift oversight to leaders that align with corporations
⁃ Push private insurance schemes
This scheme has been done before in other countries like Argentina where the government shut down bank withdrawals and trapped peoples savings. Banks took risks with the money knowing they’d be rescued by taxpayers.
It’s also not unlike the 2009 crash.
Project 2025 outlines ways to weaken regulatory agencies, consolidate financial oversight under corporate-friendly leadership and limit any federal intervention.
They might even abolish the FDIC altogether or merge it with other agencies, a move that would effectively go around Congress
I urge you to start now on a counter-strategy to safeguard the FDIC's crucial deposit insurance function, as well as the agency itself. Thank you for your attention to this critical matter.
