Greetings. I am a voting constituent in rural west Texas.
Is it just me or does it feel like a perfect storm is brewing?
The WaPo reports on a Trump-supporter led ‘war room’ that was functioning as a coup-planning session. Or as his planners believed was ‘a legal strategy to reinstate Trump for a second term.’ Led by Giuliani. Advised by Steve Bannon. And other prominent heavy-hitters in the conservative world.
Then Rolling Stone dropped an in-depth reporting on the cooperation between members of Congress in planning the events that led to the January 6 assault. With the promise of a ‘blanket pardon’ by Rep. Gosar for any punishment that might result. And of course a Texan is included in the roster of active participants. Our very own wing nut Louie Gohmert.
My question to my elected congressmen…did you know about any of these doings? Were you, are you, supportive of these doings? And if you are not, why do you continue to try and protect the bad actors whose names continue to pop up in the most malignant ways? Why don’t you want these actions investigated?
Since when is the GOP a defender of lawlessness? A defender of criminal intent? An apologist for corruption and the most blatant abuses of power? A protector of those trying to destroy our Democratic bedrocks?
Finally, we are learning more and more that we do not control technology but that technology controls us. Facebook did not/does not have the capability of controlling the monster they created, which assisted the elements within our country, and government, to fan the fires that led to January 6. Y’all need to do something about that. And not just whine about FB silencing conservative voices. That’s a load of bs. It’s what the voices are saying that should be silenced, regardless of political identity.
So I start my day with that image from The Perfect Storm…a tiny boat, floating helplessly, while the mother of all waves heads at it. It seems a good analogy for America right now.
