Congress MUST STOP Trump’s Authoritarian Military Takeover of Washington D.C.!
2 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!
I am writing to you in the gravest possible terms to demand immediate action to halt Donald Trump’s alarming and unconstitutional use of the military in Washington, D.C. His actions mirror the authoritarian tactics of the 1930s—tactics that history has shown lead only to the erosion of democracy and the rise of tyranny.
Deploying armed forces domestically against our own people is not only a dangerous overreach of executive power—it is a direct assault on the principles of civilian governance and the freedoms enshrined in the Constitution. The military is sworn to protect the people, not to intimidate or silence them.
We have seen this pattern before: a leader incites division, vilifies opponents, and then uses force to consolidate control. In Germany in the 1930s, these tactics destroyed democratic institutions and silenced dissent. We cannot allow the same playbook to be used here in the United States.
Congress has the constitutional responsibility to act as a check on executive overreach. You must:
1. Publicly denounce any attempt to use the military as a political weapon against the American people.
2. Investigate and block any orders that violate the Posse Comitatus Act and the Constitution.
3. Protect and reaffirm the right to peaceful protest and the democratic process.
If we fail to act now, history will not judge us kindly. The world is watching, and so are generations yet to come.
The United States is not a dictatorship, and we must never allow it to become one. I urge you to take immediate, visible, and decisive action to protect our democracy.
