Urgent Call for WIC Funding to Protect Millions

1 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

I am writing to urge your support for the full funding of the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program. A recent report from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP) reveals a concerning possibility: without adequate funding, about 2 million parents and young children, a situation unprecedented in decades, could be denied access to WIC by September. The report highlights that increased participation and rising food costs have strained the program’s resources. This situation is alarming, particularly as WIC is crucial for early childhood development and disproportionately supports Black and Hispanic families. The potential underfunding of WIC could undermine recent efforts to modernize and expand the program, negatively impacting our nation's most vulnerable populations. As your constituent, I implore you to advocate for the necessary funding to ensure no family is turned away from WIC. This program is not just a safety net; it is a foundational support system for healthy childhood development. Congress must maintain its commitment to fully fund WIC, reflecting our values as a nation in supporting the health and well-being of all citizens. Thank you for considering this urgent matter. I look forward to your response and action.
