The SAVE Act is a deeply concerning piece of legislation that would severely restrict the ability of millions of eligible American citizens to exercise their fundamental right to vote. By imposing strict documentary proof of citizenship requirements for voter registration, this bill creates unnecessary and discriminatory barriers, disproportionately impacting marginalized communities, married women who changed their name, the elderly, and those without easy access to documentation. This misguided effort is clearly designed to suppress voter participation under the guise of election integrity. However, there is simply no evidence of widespread voter fraud that would warrant such draconian measures. Instead, the SAVE Act perpetuates harmful myths and undermines principles of democracy and equality. I urge you to firmly oppose this legislation and any attempts to erect obstacles to the sacred right of all eligible citizens to make their voices heard at the ballot box. Our elections and our nation are strengthened by facilitating access and participation, not by exclusionary and disenfranchising policies that violate the spirit of democracy. Protect and expand voting rights for all Americans.
