An open letter to the U.S. Senate

Congress pass the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act now!

156 so far! Help us get to 250 signers!

I’m writing today to urge you to support the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act and to urge Senator Schumer to bring it to a vote as soon as possible. It is unacceptable that employers can discriminate and retaliate against workers when they ask for pregnancy accommodations. No one should have to choose between a paycheck to provide for their families and the health of their baby. More frequent breaks, no heavy lifting and flexibility to attend doctor appointments are among the reasonable accommodations all employers should be required to accommodate. The United States does not have a national standard for paid pregnancy leave or to provide health care for all pregnant people, unlike most developed countries. The Pregnant Workers Fairness Act will allow pregnant people to remain on the job to support their families without risking their health or the health of their baby. I urge you to do everything you can to pass it during this session. Thanks.
