The issues with the U.S. Postal Service delaying election mail and mishandling ballots are deeply concerning and risk undermining public confidence in the integrity of our elections. It is unacceptable that timely postmarked ballots are arriving after deadlines, while others are being improperly returned as undeliverable. These systemic problems disenfranchise voters through no fault of their own. While removing the Postmaster General alone will not resolve these long-standing challenges, new leadership committed to prioritizing the USPS's vital role in facilitating free and fair elections is crucial. Significant resources must be dedicated to properly training staff, enforcing policies, upgrading infrastructure, and ensuring the efficient delivery of all election mail. Protecting the fundamental right to vote should be a non-partisan priority. Widespread problems with mail delivery threaten to disenfranchise countless Americans and sow doubts about election legitimacy. Urgent action is needed to address these issues and ensure every validly cast ballot is counted. Our democracy depends on having a reliable and trustworthy mail system, especially for those who cannot easily vote in person. Resolving the USPS's election mail failures must be a top priority to uphold the integrity of our elections.
