An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Reject federal demand for state voter data

12 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!

The Trump administration's request for voter registration data and extensive election records from multiple states raises serious privacy and civil liberties concerns. Centralizing this information at the federal level could enable voter suppression, intimidation tactics, or misuse of personal data. States have a legal obligation and civic duty to protect the integrity of their elections and the rights of voters. This federal overreach threatens to undermine public confidence in the electoral process that is the bedrock of democracy. Congress must use its oversight authority to scrutinize the justification for these sweeping demands and ensure states are not coerced into compromising voters' personal information or local control over elections. Preserving the security and independence of state-run elections is paramount to safeguarding the freedom to vote.
