Mr. Abrego Garcia deserves fair immigration process, legal representation

The needless vilification and smearing of Kilmar Abrego Garcia must end. The recently released video shows no evidence of criminal activity during a routine traffic stop, yet his character and immigration status have been repeatedly called into question without due process. Mr. Abrego Garcia deserves the opportunity to defend himself and have his day in court before an immigration judge, as originally ordered. His continued detention in El Salvador, denied access to legal representation or contact with his family, is a violation of his fundamental rights. Instead of perpetuating unsubstantiated allegations, efforts should be made to expeditiously facilitate his lawful return to the United States to resolve this case properly through established legal channels. Engaging in a smear campaign serves no constructive purpose and undermines the principles of fairness and justice that should guide immigration proceedings.
