An open letter to the President & U.S. Congress

Americans Don't Deserve To Be Hungry

21 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!

I am your constituent and I know there is a lot of discussion about a federal budget and the need to restore Medicaid and ACA subsidies. That is a good step and I expect you to support that. Frankly, if we had Universal Healthcare like H.R. 3069 we would save hundreds of billions of dollars yearly and everyone would be healthier. I want to call your attention to the fact that the budget cuts this year also affect people who do not get enough to eat. I also call on Congress and the administration to reverse these damaging provisions of H.R. 1 and restore nutrition assistance programs. 44 million of us need help to get enough to eat every month and these new cuts will take away that assistance from 4 million of us. No one in the United States deserves to be hungry, especially children. I don’t want you to agree to any new budget that cuts nutrition assistance or healthcare. This is not about politics; it is about people, and it is about what kind of country we choose to be.
