ICE cruelty & illegality: an abomination we cannot afford. Take action

Investigate ICE costs and rein in ICE.
Legislate to stop deportation quotas.
If you don't understand the moral reasons for limiting immigration enforcement that relies on terror and violating habeas corpus, then please consider the costs:
Minnesota Immigrants Are Still Facing the Fallout of Trump's
ICE Invasion. Operation Metro Surge cost residents and businesses in Minneapolis nearly $700 million in economic losses.
Remember that most people detained by ICE are not criminals and even immigration infractions are civil offences.
Kidnapping our neighbors and small business employees is devastating to the economy. It also means that those detained are not paying taxes-- and even as colossal sums are paid to private contractors for unacceptable conditions in the ICE concentration camps. In what universe does this expenditure make sense? The math does not math unless you are shareholder or owner of the for-profit detention corporations.
You should of course be addressing the cruelty, immorality and illegality of ICE policies and detention conditions.
Surely you are aware that United Nations human rights chief Volker Türk has demanded independent investigations into a surge of deaths in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody. Highlighting that 19 people had died in detention by mid-2026, he condemned the lack of transparency surrounding the fatalities and poor detention conditions.
Congress needs to act: deaths, torture, cruelty, child abuse, -- none of this makes us safer. None of this makes America great. It is a moral and legal catastrophe.
Address it: hold hearings, investigate, hold ICE accountable.
