Urgent Support for HR 1936
13 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!
I am writing to urge your support for HR 1936, a critical bill that would prohibit the use of federal funds for any attempt to invade or seize territory from Canada, Greenland, or Panama.
Recent remarks by former President Trump about annexing these regions—whether distractions, wishful thinking, or genuine intentions—are deeply alarming. Even floating such ideas undermines our credibility on the world stage, damages our diplomatic relationships, and violates international law. The mere suggestion of expansionist actions erodes trust in American leadership and sets a dangerous precedent.
At this pivotal moment, it is essential for Congress to reaffirm its constitutional authority. The unlawful impoundment of congressionally appropriated funds and the dismissal of federal employees by private individuals threaten the very foundation of our democracy. Allowing these violations to go unchecked weakens the power of the legislative branch and the rule of law itself.
HR 1936 is a necessary step in drawing a clear boundary against reckless and unconstitutional actions. I urge you to stand firmly in support of this bill and to reinforce the role of Congress in upholding our nation’s principles.
I appreciate your time and your leadership in defending democracy.
