Urgent Demand to End Complicity in the Crisis in Gaza and Secure a Ceasefire I am writing to you as a constituent who is deeply horrified by the catastrophic situation in Gaza. The ongoing violence has resulted in an unprecedented loss of life, a man-made humanitarian disaster, and what the International Court of Justice (ICJ) has recognized as a "plausible risk of genocide." I am urging you to take immediate and decisive action to end our country's complicity in this crisis and to use all available diplomatic and economic tools to bring it to an end. My demands are clear and urgent: 1. Publicly Demand and Work for a Permanent, Unconditional Ceasefire: Temporary pauses are insufficient. An immediate and permanent ceasefire is the only way to stop the mass killing, ensure the release of all hostages, and allow the delivery of humanitarian aid at the scale now required to prevent famine and disease. 2. Immediately Halt All Military Aid, Arms Transfers, and Intelligence Sharing with Israel: Our country must stop supplying the weapons that are enabling this destruction. There is no justification for providing the bombs, artillery, and other military support used in attacks that have killed tens of thousands of civilians, including thousands of children, and decimated Gaza's essential infrastructure. An arms embargo is a fundamental step toward upholding international law. 3. Ensure the Full and Unimpeded Flow of Humanitarian Aid by Demanding All Land Crossings Be Opened: The starvation in Gaza is a direct result of the siege. We must use all political pressure to force the opening of all land crossings to allow a massive influx of food, water, medicine, and fuel. Airdrops and maritime routes are not substitutes for the efficient and comprehensive delivery of aid by truck. 4. Uphold International Law by Supporting All Mechanisms of Accountability: I urge you to stop using diplomatic power to shield the Israeli government from consequences. Our government must fully support the investigations of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and the International Criminal Court (ICC) and impose targeted sanctions and travel bans on officials and leaders implicated in incitement to violence and war crimes. 5. End the Double Standards by Advocating for Equal Rights and Self-Determination: A just and lasting peace cannot be built on the foundation of occupation, siege, and systemic inequality. I urge you to advocate for policies that uphold the fundamental rights of all people in the region—including the right to safety, freedom, and self-determination—and to officially recognize the State of Palestine. The current policy of unconditional support for the Israeli military's actions is morally indefensible and violates international law. It also makes our country complicit in this tragedy. I expect you to represent the values of your constituents by taking a stand for a future where all people in the region can live in peace, security, and with full rights.
