Politicizing the Military: How Trump and Hegseth Are Driving an Iran Forever War

I am writing to express grave concern over ongoing operations in Iran, defined by a distinct lack of transparency regarding service member deaths alongside ever-expanding military spending—including the massive $157 billion request.
These financial and human costs were created by the dangerous politicization of our armed forces under President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. The unprecedented purge of non-partisan military leaders—including Gen. C.Q. Brown, Gen. Randy George, and Adm. Lisa Franchetti—signals an alarming shift toward prioritizing ideological loyalty over strategic expertise.
Furthermore, Secretary Hegseth’s intervention to block promotion lists after conducting political online vetting erodes the merit-based foundation of our military. Sidelining seasoned leaders like Gen. George, Gen. David Hodne, and Maj. Gen. William Green during active conflict undermines readiness and replaces candid strategic advice with partisan compliance.
When political optics and unchecked spending dictate defense decisions without clear reporting on human casualties, our service members bear the cost.
As your constituent, I urge you to exercise rigorous congressional oversight, reassert war powers authority, demand transparency, and protect our military from political machinations.
We must preserve an apolitical, professional military strictly dedicated to national defense. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
