Stop cuts to vital educational programs by a made-up group DOGE

I am writing to express my deep concern over the reckless cuts made by the newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which has already begun stripping vital educational programs from students with disabilities across the country. These cuts, including nearly $900 million slashed from the U.S. Department of Education’s Institute of Education Sciences, are dismantling essential supports for students who rely on structured transition programs to move from high school to adulthood.
Programs like “Charting My Path for Future Success,” which serve students with IEPs in multiple school districts nationwide, have already been shut down due to this abrupt loss of funding. These initiatives provide critical guidance, job training, and life skills to students who need structured support. Without them, students with disabilities are left without the resources they were promised, while schools struggle to compensate for the sudden loss.
Federal education funding exists to ensure all children—especially our most vulnerable—have access to the resources they need to succeed. By allowing DOGE to eliminate these programs, we are failing our students, leaving them without the support they need for independence and employment.
I urge you to take immediate action to stop these harmful cuts and restore funding for critical education programs. The future of students with disabilities should not be sacrificed for political maneuvering.
