An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Restore ICE training to the original 584 hours

9 so far! Help us get to 10 signers!

Ryan Schwank, a former ICE instructor, said it best. The training the recruits get at the ICE academy in Georgia is “…deficient, defective and broken”. In their zeal to rush the new recruits out to the field, the Trump administration has slashed 240 hours from the originally mandated 584 hours of the program (41%). Included in the cuts were most of the modules on the legal aspects of the Constitution and their duties. A prime example is the removal of the requirement that a JUDICIAL warrant is required to enter a home. That is why there are so many illegal entries and confrontations. The training needs to be restored to its original length with emphasis on the legal aspects and what is not permitted under the constitution.
