I am writing to express my deep concern regarding President Trump's recent pledge to impose massive tariffs on our three largest trading partners.
These tariffs will affect over 40% of America's imports, raising prices on essential goods such as clothes, food, electronics, cars, and oil. The potential retaliatory tariffs from Canada, China, and Mexico could further harm American businesses and consumers.
While the President has the authority to impose tariffs unilaterally, this power was granted by Congress through a series of laws since The Great Depression. It is within your power to revoke or place guardrails on this authority to prevent further economic damage.
I urge you to take immediate action to stop this economic wrecking ball and protect American consumers and businesses.
If Congress chooses not to act, we will hold our representatives accountable for the economic consequences of this trade war.
