Please fight Trump’s exec order that will harm our schools and students.

Fight Trump’s executive order “Ending Radical Indoctrination in K-12 Schooling”, which will significantly harm our schools, teachers, and students. The threat of cutting federal funding for educational institutions who do not abide by this order will unfairly punish schools and teachers who are trying to ensure the education and safety of all of their students. Banning discussions of gender identity, racism, or equitable treatment alienates vulnerable students and promotes ignorance. It will endanger the safety and well-being of LGBTQ+ and trans children, increasing the likelihood of being bullied, while simultaneously denying them a safe environment. For so many young people, school is their supreme place of safety. With the protection of an affirming teacher and classroom, they are able to show up as their authentic selves.⁠ Punishing schools for providing a safe and understanding environment will only punish our most vulnerable students. Please do all you can to stop this misguided and cruel executive order.
