Appoint Special Prosecutor for Epstein Case or NO DEAL on Budget

Today I take pen in hand to write and urge you to support NO DEAL and a Government shutdown on the budget until Republicans agree to appoint a truly independent special prosecutor to investigate the Jeffrey Epstein case. The obvious cover-up by Trump and those in his orbit, including the Speaker of the House simply intensify the need for a special prosecutor in this case. I’d also be in favor of a full special commission as has been done in the past for election interference by Russia. Meanwhile the White House's and Pam Bondi’s Justice Department continue to stall in spite of a huge majority of Voters that demand full transparency. A special prosecutor, operating without interference by Bondi, Trump or others in his orbit can establish not only full transparency and public hearings, but also hold subpoena power and criminal referral in these matters. The administration's praise of an "exhaustive review" conducted by Trump loyalists is insufficient. We need an impartial, thorough investigation that the public can trust. President Trump's comments about the "Epstein Hoax" is a clear political attack, not taking into account the testimony and voices of the estimated thousand victims. A special prosecutor would help cut through the political rhetoric and focus on the facts of the case, and provide protection for witnesses that might be afraid for their lives because powerful men are most assuredly behind the cover up, as well as the President. Time is of the essence. Every day that passes without a comprehensive, independent investigation is a day that justice is delayed for Epstein's victims and the truth remains obscured from the American people. I urge you to act swiftly in calling for and supporting the appointment of a special prosecutor to handle this case, or NO DEAL on the Budget. The integrity of our justice system and the trust of the American people in their government institutions are at stake. Thank you.
