An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Uphold human rights and due process for migrants

1 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

This is an unacceptable violation of human rights and a flagrant disregard for due process. Invoking an archaic wartime law from 1798 to deport migrants, including minors as young as 14, to Guantanamo Bay without any legal proceedings or ability to claim asylum is a deplorable abuse of executive power. Subjecting people to indefinite detention and deportation without trial, stripping them of all legal protections, is a draconian and inhumane overreach that abandons America's founding principles of justice and human dignity. Using military prison camps to hold civilians is a shameful attack on civil liberties that no free society should tolerate. This is an authoritarian path that history will condemn. I implore you to take a firm stand against this egregious injustice and defend the constitutional rights that are a hallmark of American democracy. There must be lawful, humane solutions to immigration that uphold our values, not forsake them.
