We must end business ties in Congress. The current divestment rules are weak and ineffective. Members are still buying and trading stocks. The transition between Congress person to lobbyist and back is still easy. Worse, members should not be able to accept campaign donations from for profit groups. We have seen what that leads too. How is the fillibuster doing? Still not abolished? What kind of democracy is more responsive to business interests than the people it's supposed to represent. Congress has the power and it must divest itself from businesses completely. No more bribes from lobbyists. No more corporate campaign contributions and superpacs. We need representatives that represent us, not some rich douches profit margin. We have billionaires because they own Congress. It's time for democracy, not plutocracy.
