Investigate and Counter Trump's Preemptive Pardon Scheme

Investigate the Trump administration's plan to issue sweeping preemptive pardons to shield staff and allies from accountability for potential federal crimes. Trump confirmed to the New York Post that he would pardon everyone who worked in his administration if Democrats pursue prosecutions, citing his mass pardons of roughly 1,500 January 6th defendants as precedent. That is not justice. That is a president building a legal firewall around his own operation.
Federal pardons cover only federal crimes. State attorneys general retain full authority to pursue state-level charges, and civil litigation remains an open avenue. I want to see every available legal tool used. Coordinate with state prosecutors where federal pardons create gaps. Push for civil suits where criminal charges are blocked. Sen. Elissa Slotkin has already outlined a committee-driven accountability strategy, and Rep. Jamie Raskin has committed to investigating systemic corruption. That work must move forward with urgency and precision.
A pardon is not a verdict of innocence. The public record still matters. Pursue it.
