An open letter to the U.S. Senate

Reform USPS rates to reduce Chinese imports

1 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

I see reports that you are talking about putting tariffs on cheap Chinese imports. You are attacking the wrong end of the problem. The problem is that the United States Post Office rates for Chinese imports are too low. I can't afford to send boxes to my family. Instead China gets to send cheap knockoffs free! Tariffs sound good to you because they put money in US Treasury. But they don't fix anything for Americans. The imbalance of US Post office rates is our, American citizens, problem. Corporations and major shippers get beneficial rates while American citizens have to pay a heavy load just to send a family treasure to a relative. Congress has allowed Republicans to make the post office uncompetitive. Postmaster Dejoy is a corporate sellout. He runs the post office like it's part of the shipping cartel that sets high rates for individuals while negotiating low rates for big shippers. We expected Biden would get rid of Postmaster DeJoy and return the Postal Service to the service of Americans. He has failed!
