Stop the Genocide in Tigray, Ethiopia: Implement the Pretoria Peace Agreement

I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the Tigray region of Ethiopia and to urge you to take immediate action to ensure the full implementation of the 2022 Pretoria Peace Agreement.
The Pretoria Peace Agreement, signed in November 2022, outlined critical steps for peace and stability in Tigray, including the withdrawal of all foreign and non-Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF) troops, the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid, and accountability for human rights abuses and war crimes. However, progress has been alarmingly slow, and the atrocities against Tigrayans continue with little intervention.
Given these circumstances, I request that you:
1 Insist that the State Department demands an independent investigation and report on Ethiopia's progress in implementing the Pretoria Agreement.
2 Pressure USAID to ensure sufficient funding is allocated to address the humanitarian needs stemming from the Tigray genocide.
The recent analysis by the Global Observatory highlights that, despite some efforts, multiple armed actors, unresolved territorial disputes, and external interference, particularly from Eritrean and Amhara forces, are severely hindering the peace process and exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.
The United States has a moral obligation to support the cessation of hostilities and the restoration of peace in Tigray. By ensuring the full implementation of the Pretoria Peace Agreement and providing necessary humanitarian aid, we can help bring an end to the suffering of millions of Tigrayans.
Thank you for your attention to this critical issue. I look forward to your prompt and decisive action.
