An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Department of Education

2 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

Dismantling the Department of Education would have a dramatically negative impact on South Dakota, from funding schools in poor areas to cutting critical education for those with disabilities. South Dakota is among the top recipients of federal education funding, obtaining 20% of our education budget from the federal government. I presume you have a well thought out plan for replacing that money? Are you going to simply close 20% of schools in the state? Are you going to force disabled children to just fend for themselves? Or are you going to just make them stay home so we don't have to deal with them? Or perhaps you are going to further increase property taxes to pay for it? I'm sure you have a solid plan for compensating for this horrible move by this administration since pushing back on it isn't in your genes. That would require a spine.
