Oppose US withdrawal from UN, preserve global leadership

The United States' withdrawal from the United Nations would undermine global cooperation and severely diminish America's standing on the world stage. The UN provides a vital forum for nations to resolve conflicts diplomatically and find peaceful solutions to complex international challenges. Leaving would isolate the U.S., reduce its influence, and increase the likelihood of destabilizing wars and conflicts arising from unchecked aggression by rogue states and non-state actors. The UN's imperfections do not justify abandoning it entirely. Reform from within is a far preferable path that allows the U.S. to shape the organization's priorities in alignment with its values and interests. Unilaterally disengaging would be detrimental to American security and that of its allies. It would cede influence to rivals like Russia and China within the UN system. The proposed DEFUND Act's provisions revoking the diplomatic immunity of UN personnel based in the U.S. would deal a severe blow to the core principle of multilateral cooperation. This hostile act against the UN's functioning on American soil would irreparably damage relations and trust. Continued U.S. membership and leadership within the United Nations is critical for advancing global peace, security and prosperity aligned with American values and strategic interests. Withdrawing would be an unnecessary self-inflicted wound that benefits no one except America's adversaries. Reform should be pursued through engaged diplomacy, not rash unilateral action.
