The Supreme Court has a duty to protect the Constitution and ensure that the principle of equal justice under the law is upheld. Yet today, we are witnessing a dangerous erosion of this principle. Under President Trump, acts of vandalism at politically disfavored businesses are prosecuted as crimes, while similar acts at favored companies like Tesla are being escalated to “domestic terrorism.” This is a gross abuse of prosecutorial discretion and a direct threat to democratic norms. Trump’s public alignment with Tesla, including his recent pledge to “show support” for Elon Musk (Reuters, 2025-03-11), makes this selective prosecution even more alarming.
The politicization of the Department of Justice is no longer hypothetical. From documented efforts to pressure the DOJ into targeting political opponents (DOJ Inspector General Report, 2020) to now weaponizing terrorism charges against dissenters, Trump is actively undermining public trust in the rule of law. Selective justice is not justice—it is authoritarianism.
The Court must take a stand. I urge you to use your platform and judicial authority to reject these abuses. The Constitution demands a neutral, apolitical justice system. Without action from the Court, the legal system risks becoming a tool for political retribution, rather than a safeguard for liberty. The stakes are too high to remain silent.
